A book full of photos, mementos, anecdotes, notes and recorded conversations is called a memories scrapbook. It is not just a photo album that preserves your memories, but it is an almanac that helps you to re-live the cherished moments once again.
Here are a few useful tips to make a treasured scrapbook:
Organize photos - Before setting out to make a memories scrapbook, organize all your photographs properly. A good idea would be to segregate the snaps according to the occasions. For instance, stack up all the Christmas photos together. Likewise, set aside the wedding pictures. Once you have put all the pictures in order, you can make not one, but many photo albums.
Size matters - Memories scrapbook are available in two standard sizes 12’’ x 12’’ and 8 ½’’ x 11’’. You can select anyone of them depending upon the number of snaps you have. In the case of photo book binding is important. Removable spiral binding allows you to add and remove pages. With other kinds of binding, you don’t have the liberty to shuffle the pages as per your needs.
Go for acid-free scrapbooking supplies - Due to the presence of acid, the paper turns brittle and begins to crack with the passage of time. The acid of the paper can also cause the photographs to deteriorate. For this reason, it is essential to select acid-free paper, stickers and mementos.
Crop out the unnecessary parts - Cut off the boring parts to the snaps to enhance their looks. Normally, photos are either square or rectangle. At times, circle is also a good option. You can also cut the photo along the edges of the person or object. Use ordinary paper cutter for cropping off the pictures. Avoid using fancy-edged scissors for cutting the snaps.
Perk up the photos - A good way to perk up your memories scrapbook is to paste photograph borders along the edges of the photos. You can either use ready made borders or you can make them on your own with the help of fancy-edged scissors.
Page protectors are important - To prolong the life of your memories scrapbook slide the finished pages into page protectors. Different types of page protectors are easily available you can use any one of them.
All about the glue - Avoid using rubber cement; it turns brown with time and makes your memories scrapbook look shoddy. Also make sure that the glue you use is acid free. If you live in a region with high humidity, then use Zig glue pen; it contains rubber cement, but since it has been made specifically for scrapbooking, therefore it can safely be used.
